Each event has its own place in Club history and drivers compete for trophies of historic importance in a range of grids: Vintage Racing Cars pre Pre front engined racing cars Standard and modified sports-cars 2 Scratch races cars grouped according to speed 2 Handicap races cars grouped according to speed Other distinctive grids including Edwardian cars, s sports cars and marque races The remainder of the event programme, depending on the circuit, is filled with a mixture of additional pre-war Trophy Races or invited grids from the world of historic racing. Racing is one of the oldest forms of motor sport in the world. It requires drivers to be brave and talented, as well as understanding the limitations of their cars and how to overcome the competition with clever tactics.

Historic motorsport or vintage motorsport , is motorsport with vehicles limited to a particular era. Only safety precautions are modernized in these hobbyist races. A historical event can be of various types of motorsport disciplines, from road racing to rallying. While there are several professional teams and drivers in historical racing, this branch of motorsport tends to be contested by wealthy car owners and is thus more amateur and laid back in its approach. One advantage of historical motorsport is that once a series for a particular category is introduced, it helps to increase the value of its competing cars, sometimes approaching the million dollar mark, therefore as a result, many of these are carefully driven by its owners and are occasionally used to bring in spectators.

We are a bunch of like-minded old race car enthusiasts from a variety of backgrounds and age groups who love going to Historic Race Car meetings especially throughout the south to compete in our obsolete but much loved vehicles. We organise and run three events annually ourselves at the Levels race track just out of Timaru in the South Island. In February we have our three day glamour meeting normally with over entrants from both New Zealand and overseas as part of the Southern Festival of Speed where contestants race over 3 different tracks over 3 consecutive weekends. The circuits being Ruapuna, Levels and Teretonga. In late Autumn we have our final 'fling' before the cars are put away for winter and the subsequent tuning that occurs during that time.
