Teen court special events
The City of Lone Tree Teen Court is designed to increase community safety by providing an alternative opportunity to youthful respondents that promotes accountability and community engagement. Teen Court is both a volunteer program and a program for eligible youth respondents who obtain an offense in the City of Lone Tree. Community engagement is an important aspect of the Lone Tree program and helps us complete our mission. Both youth and adult volunteers are heavily involved in the Teen Court process. If you are interested in volunteering, please check out the Volunteer page to the left.

The program provides an alternative response for the juvenile justice system for first-time, misdemeanor juvenile offenders, in which teens determine the appropriate sanctions for the offender. An adult judge presides, and a jury of peers determines the sentence. Teen Court is designed to educate youth about the judicial process. Defendants in Teen Court learn the importance of taking responsibility for their own actions as well as how their choices impact those around them. Teen Court gives young offenders the opportunity to make amends with their community through their participation and service.
